  ISTANBUL

"ATC - IST",                                    4  NIGHTS

DAILY DEPARTURES,  THROUGHOUT  THE  YEAR.

 

DAY  1 :  Arrival in ISTANBUL, the only city in the World built on two continents. Meet and transfer to your hotel.  Free afternoon to rest or to stroll around this magnificent city. Overnight in ISTANBUL.

 

DAY  2 :   “HISTORICAL ISTANBUL TOUR” (see Page 16); visit the SULTANAHMET “BLUE” MOSQUE (unique with its 6 minarets, and famous for its magnificent interior lined with more than 20,000 colorful “blue” Iznik tiles), the HIPPODROME, the St. SOPHIA MUSEUM (originally built by Emperor Constantine the Great, and rebuilt by Emperor Justanian, once was the largest Church in the World, a masterpiece of Byzantine architecture), the TOPKAPI PALACE (Imperial Residence of Ottoman Sultans. Its displays include priceless World-class collections of weapons, holy relics, rare porcelain, and other artifacts), the majestic SULEYMANIYE MOSQUE, and then visit the World-famous GRAND COVERED BAZAAR, a maze of nearly 4000 shops and stalls, selling mostly jewelry, artifacts, carpets, and leather goods. Overnight in ISTANBUL. ( B, L )

 

DAY  3 :   Full day “BOSPHORUS & ASIA TOUR”; After a short visit to smell the exotic aromas of the EGYPTIAN SPICE MARKET (closed on Sundays), enjoy the BOSPHORUS FERRY BOAT TOUR, viewing the picturesque beauty of the European and Asian shorelines on each side of this World-renowned strait. Disembark in SARIYER or TARABYA, to enjoy your lunch at a local estaurant.  After lunch, cross the BOSPHORUS BRIDGE to the Asian side to visit CAMLICA HILL to observe the best panoramic view of Istanbul, and then tour the BEYLERBEYI PALACE, the summer residence of the Ottoman Sultans, with its original furniture and magnificent gardens. (occasionally the BEYLERBEYI visit may be replaced with a visit to the DOLMABAHCE PALACE). Overnight in ISTANBUL. ( B, L )

 

DAY  4 :    FREE DAY to enjoy ISTANBUL at your leisure. (We suggest one of our Optional Istanbul Daily Tours, such as  “DOLMABAHCE & GOLDEN HORN”, or “BURSA”, or “JEWISH HERITAGE”, as described on Page. 12. For the evening, you may consider the “TURKISH NIGHT OUT”  Dinner and Turkish Folkloric Entertainment Program). Overnight in ISTANBUL ( B )  

 

DAY  5 :  Transfer to the Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport per your departure time.  ( B )

  CAPPADOCIA

"ATC - CAP",                                 2  NIGHTS

WEDNESDAY or SUNDAY DEPARTURES,  THROUGHOUT  THE  YEAR.

 

DAY  1 :    Meet at your ANKARA hotel, or upon early morning arrival of your flight at ANKARA Airport. Visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations (the Hittite Museum, which is housed in a restored Caravanserai), and “Anitkabir”, the Mausoleum of Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey.  After lunch, proceed to CAPPADOCIA, where nature has scoured surrealistic moonscape shapes, and where during the 9th Century the early Christians built underground churches and cities, extending several stories below ground. Dinner and overnight in CAPPADOCIA.( L, D )

 

DAY  2 :   Full day touring in CAPPADOCIA; first visit the fascinating GOREME Open-Air-Museum with its fairy chimneys and dozens of cave churches decorated with frescoes depicting various scenes from the Bible, see the PIGEON Valley and the natural Citadel of UCHISAR. Then, visit the ZELVE Valley and the pottery town AVANOS,

with opportunity to shop for local handicrafts like carpets, ceramics, tiles, and pottery. Dinner and overnight in CAPPADOCIA.   ( B, L, D )

 

DAY  3 :   After breakfast,  proceed to visit the underground city of KAYMAKLI (built by the early Christians to evade invading armies). Then, visit the Seljuk period Agzikarahan Caravanserai located on the Ancient Silk Road, on the way to ANKARA.  Transfer to your hotel in Ankara, or to the Ankara Airport for your evening flight for the continuation of your trip in Turkey.  ( B, L )

  IZMIR

"ATC - IZM",                                  4  NIGHTS

DAILY DEPARTURES,  THROUGHOUT  THE  YEAR.

 

DAY  1 :   Arrival in IZMIR, the “Pearl of the Aegean”, nestled on the shores of the bay sharing the same name.  Transfer to your hotel. Free afternoon to stroll along the promenade (or you may sign-up for the optional Half-Day afternoon IZMIR CITY TOUR, see Page 17). Overnight in IZMIR.

 

DAY  2 :   Depart towards the north, for full day “PERGAMUM TOUR”, to visit PERGAMUM (where parchment was invented) and to tour the ruins of the ACROPOLIS, the city built on four terraces perched upon a hill, overlooking the Bergama Plain. Visit the Library (which once held over 200,000 volumes), the Altar of Zeus, the Temple of Trajan, the Royal Palaces, and the “Steepest Theater of the Ancient World”. After lunch in town, see the Red Basilica (symbolizing one of the Seven Churches of Anatolia), then proceed to tour the ASCLEPION (the World’s First Medical Center, built for Asclepius “the God of Medicine”, and where the renowned surgeon Galen taught). Return for overnight to IZMIR. ( B, L )

 

DAY  3 :   Full day tour of EPHESUS (see Page 17), one of the “Seven Churches of Anatolia”, the best preserved and major Ionian city dating back to 1300 BC. Visit the HOUSE OF VIRGIN MARY, the Church of Virgin Mary, the Celsus Library, the Odeon, the Hadrian’s Temple, the Trajan’s Fountain, the Agora, the Marble Road, the Arcadian Road, the House of Love, the Roman Baths, the Theater (where St. Paul preached). After lunch, visit the Basilica of St. John (who accompanied Virgin Mary to Ephesus and wrote a gospel), and then admire the Ephesian Artemis statue while touring the Archaeological Museum of Ephesus in Selcuk. Proceed to your hotel for overnight in IZMIR (or KUSADASI, your choice). DAY  4 :   FREE DAY to enjoy the region at your leisure.You may take a day trip to the nearby beaches at Cesme or Kusadasi, or just enjoy Izmir and shop at the charming KEMERALTI BAZAAR.  (We suggest an Optional Izmir Daily Tour, such as the “PRIENE-MILETUS-DIDYMA” Tour, the “SARDIS AND IZMIR JEWISH HERITAGE” Tour, or the ”PAMUKKALE” Tour, as described on Page 13). Overnight in IZMIR (or KUSADASI) ( B )

  AEGEAN

DAY  1, SUNDAY :  Meet at Izmir Airport, transfer to your hotel. You may join, if time allows, our complimentary, "Half-Day IZMIR CITY" Tour. Overnight in IZMIR.

 

DAY  2,  MONDAY :  Depart to visit PERGAMUM, the ancient city where parchment was invented. Tour the ACROPOLIS, the city built on four terraces perched upon a hill overlooking the Bergama Plain, with the “Steepest Theater of the Ancient World”, and then tour the ASCLEPION (the famous ancient medical center dedicated to Asclepios, “the God of Healing and Medicine”, and where Galen, the famous surgeon, taught). Return for overnight in IZMIR. ( B, L )

 

DAY  3,  TUESDAY :  Depart to SARDIS (the Lydian capital city). Tour  the ancient Synagogue, the Gymnasium, the Marble Road, and the remains of the Artemis Temple, symbolizing one of “The Seven Churches of Anatolia”. Then proceed to Alasehir  to visit PHILADELPHIA, and to PAMUKKALE, the “Cotton Castle”. Dinner and overnight in PAMUKKALE. (Optionally you may enjoy a therapeutic hot bath in the mineral spring waters of your hotel’s pool).. ( B, L, D )

 

DAY  4,  WEDNESDAY :  Tour the snow-white limestone terraces and the ancient healing city of HIERAPOLIS; the Main Street and Gates, the Thermal Baths, the Roman Theater, and the magnificently preserved cemetery “Necropolis”. Then visit APHRODISIAS, the city of Aphrodite; tour the Odeon, the Stadium, the Agora, the Hadrian Baths, and the Bishop’s Palace. For dinner and overnight, continue to the beautiful Aegean resort town KUSADASI ( B, L, D )

 

DAY  5, THURSDAY :  Full Day tour of the ancient city of EPHESUS, a bustling metropolis at the turn of the Christian era, visiting Celsus Library, Arcadian Road, Roman Baths, the Theater (where St. Paul preached), the Church of Virgin Mary, and the Basilica of St. John (the evangelist who accompanied Virgin Mary to Ephesus), and then the HOUSE OF VIRGIN MARY. Thereafter, tour the Ephesus Museum in Selcuk. Dinner and overnight in KUSADASI. ( B, L, D )

 

DAY  6, FRIDAY : FREE DAY IN KUSADASI. (We suggest the PRIENE-MILETUS- DIDYMA Tour). Transfer to the Izmir Airport for your flight, or alternatively you may continue with another ATC Mini-Tour, such as ATC-BOD or ATC-BVB( B )

  BODRUM

"ATC - BOD",                                3  NIGHTS

DAILY DEPARTURES,  THROUGHOUT  THE  YEAR.  

 

 

DAY  1 :  Meet at Izmir Airport or your hotel in Kusadasi or Izmir, and depart for the “PRIENE-MILETUS-DIDYMA TOUR”, to visit PRIENE (the first city built  utilizing the “grid system”, and which is located on top of a hill, by the Menderes “Meander” River), MILETUS (the Ioanian city which had a port that could hold hundreds of warships), and then DIDYMA (to admire the huge columns of the Temple of Apollo, the third largest temple in the ancient Hellenic World). Transfer for overnight to your hotel in BODRUM (at the point where the AEGEAN and the MEDITERRANEAN SEAS virtually meet), the ancient HALICARNASSUS, a town you will never forget. ( L )

 

DAY  2 :  FREE DAY IN BODRUM. You may visit the Castle of St. Peter, “Bodrum Castle”, which now houses the Underwater Archaeology  Museum, then the “Antique Theater”, and the remains of the “Mausoleum” (One of the "Seven Wonders" of the Ancient World). Overnight in BODRUM. ( B ) 

 

DAY  3 :  FREE DAY IN BODRUM. You may stroll through the old Halicarnassus, enjoying your day by relaxing at a sidewalk cafe, or by taking a 6-hour Boat Tour. Overnight in BODRUM. ( B )

 

DAY  4 : Free morning or day in Bodrum. Transfer to the Bodrum Airport for your departing flight, or alternatively you may embark for the “ATC-BVB” Blue Voyage Cruise, if on a Saturday. ( B )

DAY  1 :   Arrival in ANTALYA, the unofficial capital of the “Turquoise Coast” of Anatolia.  Transfer to your hotel; free afternoon to stroll around the lovely marina area or to enjoy the beach or your hotel’s pool. Dinner and overnight in ANTALYA.( D )

 

DAY  2 :   “PERGE - ASPENDOS - SIDE TOUR”; full day excursion to the ancient Pamphylian cities of PERGE (which dates back to 1000 BC and where St. Paul preached his first sermons), then to ASPENDOS (with its Agora, Acropolis, and the well preserved 15,000-seat theater famous for its excellent acoustics), and to the ancient Roman harbor town of SIDE (with its Theater, Agora, Temple, and Baths). Lunch and a visit to the MANAVGAT WATERFALLS will be included. Return to ANTALYA for dinner and overnight.

DAY  3 :  FREE DAY to enjoy ANTALYA and the “TURKISH RIVIERA” at your leisure. You may visit the old city “Kaleici”, the old harbor, the city walls and/or the praised Antalya Archaeological Museum on your own. (We suggest you to take an optional Antalya Daily Tour, such as the  “TERMESSOS and DUDEN” Tour, the “MYRA-KEKOVA” Boat Tour, or the “PHASELIS Boat Tour”, which are described on Page 13).
